When: October 1st, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Where: FREE on Zoom!

The Resilient Landscapes Coalition is hosting a FREE, bilingual Four Part webinar series on creating a fire-wise landscape in the Defensible Space zone and beyond, while at the same time enhancing biodiversity and wildlife habitat, and conserving resources

This four part, one hour per week, workshop series will allow plenty of time for questions and discussion!

Part 1 – Eric Schoohs, Land Management Planner of Sonoma Ecology, will be presenting on Sustainability in the Defensible Space and Beyond.

Eric Schoohs, Land Management Planner of Sonoma Ecology

“Because it is a natural process in California, it’s necessary that we learn to live with fire. Through growing our understandings, we can take care of our homes and land in a way that keeps us safe while mutually benefitting the plants and animals that makeup nature. By using a multi-benefit approach that takes into account all the services the ecosystem offers we are rewarded with cleaner air, water, and more of all the other resources the land gives us”. – Eric Schoohs, Land Management Planner of Sonoma Ecology

Discover how you can make your home and the landscape beyond it fire resilient with a science-based approach including:

  • Vegetation Management in the Defensible Space & Beyond
  • Caring for chaparral, oak, and conifer ecosystems
  • Protecting soil and mitigating erosion
  • Managing understory species and biomass without increasing fire risk

Part 1: October 1st – Sustainability in the Defensible Space and Beyond

Part 2: October 8th – Defensible Space Zones and Code Requirements

Part 3: October 15th – Fire-Wise Design within the Defensible Space Zone
