SUMMARY:Being Wildfire Ready - A Windsor Ready! Talk
DESCRIPTION:Learn ways that can reduce impacts of wildfires on your property. Karen Hancock with the Sonoma County Fire District and April Owens with Resilient Landscape Coalition and Executive Director of the Habitat Corridor Project will discuss how modifications to your property\, like simple pruning\, cleaning out gutters\, and planting Firewise plants can help your home survive a wildfire. \nMost wildfires are caused by flying embers\, which can travel 5 miles ahead of the fire. Reducing risks on your property can make the difference. The talk will focus on subdivision type homes and include suggested plants. \nResidents 50 years and up are welcome to attend in-person. The talk will be recorded and made available to all on the Windsor COPE Facebook page and YouTube channel. Please register in advance for in-person at https://bit.ly/readywindsor2. For those who are not a Windsor Senior Recreation Center member\, call the senior center at 707-838-1250 to sign up. Please share this invite with your friends and family. \nThe Windsor Ready! Talk Series are free\, interactive monthly talks at the Windsor Senior Recreation Center to help our community be ready for life and emergencies. Speakers will cover a different topic every month. The talks are facilitated by Windsor COPE (Communities Organized to Prepare for Emergencies)\, in partnership with the Town of Windsor. Please email Windsor_COPE@yahoo.com with questions. \nLocation: \nWindsor Senior Center\, 9518 Lazy Creek Dr\, Windsor\, CA 95492-8067
