DESCRIPTION:Tending the Land for Fire Resilience: An Interactive In-Person Workshop \nWhat does it look like to care for the land in ways that support fire resilience?  \n  \nJoin Resilient Landscape Coalition and Safer West County for a FREE\, hands-on\, place-based workshop exploring how thoughtful land stewardship can help communities live more safely with wildfire. \nWe’ll begin indoors to be introduced to Tending the Land for Fire Resilience in Sonoma County–an online guide with resources to help landowners and community members make informed decisions about caring for their landscapes. \nThen we will head outdoors at the Hampton Fire Road project site above Camp Meeker\, where we’ll walk the landscape\, learn from the work that has been done\, and explore practical approaches to tending wildland in fire-prone areas. \nThere will be plenty of time for questions\, discussion\, and connecting what we see in the field with tools you can use on your own land. \nWhat You’ll Learn \n\nHow land stewardship practices can contribute to fire resilience\nWhat we can learn from the Hampton Fire Road project\nHow to use the Tending the Land  online guide to navigate land stewardship decisions\nPractical considerations for caring for wildland in West Sonoma County\n\nSunday\, October 18\, 2026 from 10:00 am -12:00 pm \nLocation: Anderson Hall\, 101 Lakeside Ave\, Camp Meeker\, CA 95419 \nPark at Anderson Hall (street parking\, carpool if possible). We can help you with plant selection\, placement\, and maintenance to preserve and even enhance wildlife habitat\, while keeping your property and neighborhood fire-wise and sustainable. \nRecommendations for fire-wise landscaping in the 0-5’\, 5-30’\, and 30-100’ defensible space zones\, with specific plant and design suggestions. \nIn partnership with the Santa Rosa Garden Club \nThis is an official meeting of the Santa Rosa Garden Club\, but the general public is welcome to join for the speaker session at 2pm.
