DESCRIPTION:Photo credit: Ellie Insley\nJoin the Resilient Landscapes Coalition and Safer West County for an in person\, free\, bilingual event at Occidental Arts and Ecology Center  to learn how to create and maintain a fire-wise\, sustainable garden that supports biodiversity while meeting County code requirements. The event will include a 1 hour indoor presentation plus a 1 hour site visit to evaluate OAEC defensible space and help applying for Safer West County’s $1\,000 defensible space rebate if you are in the communities of (Forestville\, Monte Rio\, Camp Meeker\, or Occidental).  \nWhen: October 13th\, 2024\, 9:30 – 12:30pm  \nWhere: Occidental Arts and Ecology Center Meeting Hall (15290 Coleman Valley Road\, Occidental\, CA 95465) \nThis two part workshop will allow plenty of time for questions\, and will provide: \n\nPractical ways to achieve a beautiful\, biodiverse\, energy-saving and water- and fire-wise landscape.\nClassroom presentation with recommendations for fire-wise landscaping in the 0-5’\, 5-30’\, and 30-100’ defensible space zones\, with specific plant selection\, placement and maintenance guidelines.\nPractice applying techniques to help when you return home to evaluate and improve your own defensible space by touring and evaluating OAEC property.\nResources for how to move forward with your landscape and community.\n\nRegister here!
